What happens after I order an ExcelCEO training course? How soon can I start?Top

After you click Submit in the ExcelCEO registration process for a complete self-study course, the Order Confirmation screen is the next screen and contains your computer-generated password (case-sensitive) and instructions for how to begin your Excel or Access training. Your ExcelCEO student account is active and available immediately after successful registration. Use your email address and this password to login to your ExcelCEO student account on the upper-right of the ExcelCEO home page. If you did not see or record your Order Confirmation details, contact Customer.Service@ExcelCEO.com and a copy will be sent to you.

After you log in to ExcelCEO, click on the Downloads link to download the PDF version of the course manual and the practice files for your chosen course. Start reading the course manual on page 1 and do everything exactly as it tells you to do, including taking the Review Questions and chapter exams online when instructed in each chapter. The Review Questions/chapter exam link will update as you complete each section, and be ready for you the next time you log in.

I didn’t receive an order confirmation email. Why?Top

Your email address that you register with is the one you would login with and a temporary password will be provided on the Order Confirmation screen after you click Submit for your registration for any ExcelCEO complete self-study course. If you did not save that page or do not have it available to you, contact Customer.Service@ExcelCEO.com and, after verification, a copy of your Order Confirmation can be sent to you, so you can begin (or continue) your training.

Why the change? Confirmation emails used to be sent out with every purchase. Sometimes they went to a junk email folder, got marked as spam by email filters, or had html content eliminated upon delivery. Please check your junk and/or spam folder to see if the email is there. If you find the outlined details applying to your situation, email us at Customer.Service@ExcelCEO.com and we'll send you a copy to help you begin training to become an Excel Master.

If you registered for a Chapter 1 - Basics course, the email following your registration could take as long as an hour to deliver. If you want to begin your training sooner, you can retrieve your password using the Forgot Your Password? link below the Login area at ExcelCEO.com, or email Customer.Service@ExcelCEO.com.

I got a confirmation email, but it was blank. What happened?Top

Internet Service Providers (ISP) sometimes delete images from automated emails. If that happened to you, please send us an email at Customer.Service@ExcelCEO.com and we'll send you another one. For some reason, it appears to work the second time we send it.

How much time does it take to complete an ExcelCEO course??Top

All Excel and Access and SQL complete self–study courses qualify for up to 40 hours of CPE credit under NASBA CPE/QAS standards. Plan for each chapter to take roughly as long as the number of CPE credits for which it qualifies. Specific time may vary depending on reading speed for step-by-step instructions, prior experience with the topics covered, chapter exam attempts, etc. Some students like to review the material several times before moving on, which also could affect total time. The Excel® course has one additional chapter, Chapter 18 — The Comprehensive Project, which does not qualify for CPE credits but is necessary to pass to receive the ExcelCEO Master certification.

Can you explain more about the Comprehensive Project?Top

The Comprehensive Project is like a final exam for the entire course, and is contained in the last chapter (Chapter 18) of each Excel® course. From Chapters 1 - 17, the course manual tells you what to do in a step-by-step fashion until the concept taught is understood, and shows you how to do everything that was explained, sometimes even keystroke-by-keystroke.

In the Comprehensive Project, we give you a project to do where we tell you what to do, but not how to do it. This resembles a real-world project. That is up to you to figure out, and for those who have taken the time to master the concepts throughout each chapter, the challenge is manageable. We give you screenshots to show you if you're on the right track or not. The average amount of time it takes to complete the Comprehensive Project is between 3 and 10 hours, but once you complete that project, you will have proven that you are a true Excel Master. Once you pass the Excel Chapter 18 exam, you can search for yourself by last name and state in the Graduate Verification link at ExcelCEO.com to show evidence that you have mastered the ExcelCEO course you completed.

There is not a Comprehensive Project in the Access course, but the material in Chapters 12 and 15 (the final report that you create) challenge you at that same level, and you can also be found on the Graduate Verification link after you complete Chapter 15 of an ExcelCEO Access and SQL course.

I can’t get the Practice Files to download. Why?Top

Sometimes a company will install a firewall to protect against potentially harmful files. Some of the ExcelCEO practice files contain macros as well as a large database, and this causes some security/anti-virus programs to time out. To resolve this problem, you can have your IT group download the files for you, temporarily turn off your firewall (you usually have to get permission from your IT group to do this), or you can do it from another computer, save the files to a USB flash drive and use that drive on which to complete the practice exercises. If you still can't get the practice files to download, email us at Customer.Service@ExcelCEO.com and we'll email you a link to the practice files for your chosen course. Please reference the course for which you have registered.

How do I get the Practice Files or the PDF version of the course manual to download to my computer?Top

The practice files and PDF version of the course manual are contained in the Downloads section of your ExcelCEO student account after you log in with your email address and password. To access the PDF course manual for which you are registered, simply click on the PDF file underlined link to begin the download. Instructions by operating system are included in the Downloads section of your ExcelCEO student profile. This is a large file and it may take some time to download depending on your internet connection speed. Data rates may apply.

To download the practice files, click on the practice files underlined link in the Downloads menu. The default save location is your computer C: drive. You can change the save location, if that helps you locate the files during your training. The practice files come in a .exe Zip file format. To unzip the file, left-click (or double-left-click the zipped file and click Unzip from the menu options, and you can then choose an alternate location to save the unzipped practice files, if that helps with your training. After you have your downloads completed, you will have all you need to begin your ExcelCEO training!

I plan to work on multiple computers to complete this course. Is that OK?Top

You can train on as many computers as fits your circumstances as long as you have access to the practice exercises you complete. As long as you are the only person using your ExcelCEO student profile and contents (each ExcelCEO student account accommodates only one ExcelCEO student), you can train on whichever computer(s) contain(s) the Excel or Access program that your training requires. If you need to work on multiple computers, we suggest you save the practice files and exercises to a USB flash drive or secure cloud storage location that you can refer to when you take the Review Questions and chapter exams, as you will need access to those files to answer some of the questions.

Is the name of your company ExcelCEO or ClineSys?Top

ExcelCEO is the name of the website and our course product line. ExcelCEO.com is owned by ClineSys. It is under the ClineSys name by which we offer CPE/QAS credits through NASBA. ExcelCEO National Registry Status Link

How can I get a receipt for purchasing the course?Top

After you log in to your ExcelCEO student profile with your Email and Password, you will see an Invoices link on the Main Menu in your student profile. Click on that Invoices link to view a copy of your receipt. You can print this, take a screen shot, or otherwise have this for your records, submit it for company reimbursement, where applicable, etc. All relevant details you have provided are included. If you need a more comprehensive invoice, contact us at Customer.Service@ExcelCEO.com, and another format invoice can be created for you.

My credit card was not accepted. Why?Top

There are several possible reasons why your credit card was not accepted. The most common reason is that the purchase card billing information submitted did not match the card information on file. If you used a corporate card, it is often true that the physical address and the billing address are not the same. If this fits your situation, contacting the accounting or billing team for your company can usually get you the correct information you would need to register successfully for the ExcelCEO complete self-study course of your choice.

For personal cards, if you recently moved, make sure your billing address for the card matches the address you are using. If you are using the correct address, check with your card-issuing company for any restrictions they have on purchases with companies you have not worked with before. Another possibility we see is when there was not enough available credit on the card.

How long does it take for me to receive my printed course manual?Top

After you complete an order online, it takes about a business week for you to receive your printed manual, if you ordered one, depending on your distance from Houston. Extreme weather conditions or holiday delays occasionally apply.

Each ExcelCEO course comes with a PDF version of the course manual for no extra charge. To get a printed copy of the course manual, you can print one copy for yourself, or order a printed version from us. Note that there is an extra charge for that printed manual. You can order the printed manual online just like you did the course.

Please note that if you order a printed course manual, FedEx does not deliver to PO Boxes directly, so if you only have a PO Box, that is fine, but we will need a physical address for shipping purposes in most cases. Where available, SmartPost® hands off to USPS and delivery times can potentially take an extra week.

In the meantime, you can login to your student profile using the Email and Password provided in your Order Confirmation, download the practice files you will use for your selected course, as well as the PDF version of the course manual that you can use while you anticipate your printed course manual delivery.

A .pdf Course Manual is Included. Do I Need a Printed Course Manual?Top

Whether or not you need a printed course manual depends on your learning style and preferences. Each course does come with a .pdf version of the course manual included. Many students choose this format for convenience, so they do not have to wait to begin training, cost, and for the ability to search for specific content as they study.

Reasons to consider purchasing a printed course manual include:

  • Ability to read the course material without computer access, or to preserve device battery life
  • Having only a single device monitor can make switching between programs less convenient
  • Being able to highlight and dog-ear pages of importance to you for future reference
  • The .pdf course manual is still available for use while you wait for your printed manual to be delivered
  • I have a MAC computer? Do you have a version of the course for a MAC?Top

We do not have a MAC version of ExcelCEO courses specifically, as we have not verified our courses using Office for Mac programs. While we do have students successfully take ExcelCEO course training on MACs, MAC versions of Excel are laid out differently, so step-by-step instructions in the course manual may not match what you see in Excel for Mac programs. If you do not have a Windows version of Excel available to you, but still want to take ExcelCEO training, we can get the practice files to you in an unzipped format. Some of the training refers to the Excel program and others refer to aspects of the operating system. For best results, use the version of training that matches the name of the Excel program version you have available to you.

Why are the Review Questions not found in the course manual?Top

“When I was initially creating the review and test questions for the exams, all of the questions referred to material in the chapters. When I submitted it to NASBA for approval, they rejected a lot of those questions. They said that the course taker should not be able to look up the answers to the questions in the book. That just proves that they can look up answers in a book. They told me to write questions that prove ExcelCEO students understand the material, and that they know how to find the answers by using Excel®, even if the questions had nothing to do with the material presented that chapter.

Knowing how to get the answer is much better than just giving the answer in a book. I have created questions that test a person’s knowledge on how to research issues and answers to questions by using Excel and Access. Every Excel course exam question is provable through the same hands-on approach used in the chapter projects. No ‘Gotcha’ questions are written into ExcelCEO training.”

Review Questions and chapter exam questions are designed to provide additional learning opportunities in a similar hands-on approach as taken with each course. We believe the learning is more effective when you can see the skills in action as you complete the projects, and the training should be more well-rounded too. Each question is provable, so test them. They should be as straight-forward in approach as possible.

    I thought I ordered a printed course manual, but I haven't received one.Top

Most people who purchase the Excel course prefer to work from a PDF copy of the manual instead of purchasing a printed copy. They will do that to save paper or avoid the extra cost. Each complete self-study course comes with a PDF version of the manual. To be sure which category you fall into, check the Invoices section of your ExcelCEO profile. If you see a charge confirming you purchased a printed course manual, contact Customer.Service@ExcelCEO.com, and we will track your order.

If your find you did not order a printed course manual originally, you can still purchase a copy, if you wish, at ExcelCEO.com and ordering just the printed course manual that accompanies your course. You may also choose to use the PDF version of the course manual available in the Downloads section of your profile.

Another screen space-saving option is to download or transfer a copy of your selected course PDF course manual to a tablet or phone with a PDF reader installed. Standard data rates would apply.

Are ExcelCEO courses webinars or self-study?Top

ExcelCEO courses are self-paced, self-study courses that allow you to learn on your own schedule. ExcelCEO courses contain easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions with a conversational writing style (the manual does not read like a technical guide), with hundreds of screen shots available throughout each course manual. Remember that if you are taking an ExcelCEO course for CPE credit, AICPA rules mandate that you must finish the course chapter(s) within one (1) year of the date of purchase to redeem the credits.

As added features for ExcelCEO students, we provide brief training videos and tips that demonstrate the skills you can learn through our courses. These have led some to believe (or hope) ExcelCEO courses are audio/video-based. While we are in the process of developing more of these videos and tips to aide our students in learning, ExcelCEO complete self-study courses are not audio- or video-based at this time. A few free tips and tricks videos are available to view on the Free Videos and Test page.

When will ExcelCEO Access 2016 and SQL training be available?Top

Access 2016 and SQL training is available for registration. Until it is visible on the Register page, you can contact Customer.Service@ExcelCEO.com for details on how to register for this course.

Are ExcelCEO courses NASBA-approved for CPE credit?Top

ExcelCEO complete self-study courses are NASBA certified for CPE credit under the CPE/QAS certification under the ClineSys name. The ExcelCEO Texas Sponsor ID Number is 009841. When searching the NASBA National Registry for your state under self-study, our National Registry ID is 109193. Your state board may have additional guidelines or restrictions for self-study CPE credit. If that is true in your state, make sure self-study courses meet your needs, and to what extent.

When searching for our courses at nasbaregistry.org for your specific state, you can find them using search criteria self-study, accounting, and CPE.

Do I have to complete the entire course to claim CPE credits?Top

No. You can begin earning CPE credit certificates after you complete Chapter 1! ExcelCEO courses are structured to award CPE credits per chapter based on successfully passed chapter exams. Per NASBA rules, you must achieve a minimum of a 70% chapter exam score, and have up to three attempts to pass each chapter exam to qualify for CPE credit. If you plan to use ExcelCEO course training for CPE credit across reporting periods, just make sure you complete the chapters during those reporting periods and within your one year from the date of purchase, according to NASBA policy, because CPE credit certificates include the date the chapter exam was passed.

Any CPE credit certificates you earn would be located in the Certificates link in your ExcelCEO student profile below the heading of Main Menu Links. Just complete the short survey for each certificate, and then you can print the certificates out to submit to your reporting board.

How long do I have to complete my ExcelCEO course training?Top

If you are completing the course training for self-study CPE credit, NASBA rules for accredited self-study training are that you have one (1) year from the date of purchase to complete any course training you plan to submit for CPE credit. This is not an ExcelCEO rule and applies only to claiming CPE credit. ExcelCEO does not restrict your access to your ExcelCEO course training materials for which you have registered as long as you are a registered ExcelCEO student. This includes course manuals you may have purchased, practice files downloads (including those projects you complete as part of the training), your ExcelCEO student profile, etc.

As long as you remain a registered ExcelCEO student, you can have access to the training materials for which you have registered. If you take the course training for personal development, and not for CPE credit, you likewise would not have an expiration to your ExcelCEO student profile access, as outlined. Keep in mind that each ExcelCEO student account is setup for one user only.

I want ExcelCEO courses to include video or audio. Are you planning to offer video as part of the training?Top

Feedback about ExcelCEO training based on viewing an ExcelCEO-presented webinar has prompted several students and prospective students to want video or audio as part of the ExcelCEO training material. We are planning to offer videos as part of the training, but videos associated with the complete self-study courses are not available at this time. Considering that each course contains 40 credit hours worth of material, this will take time to prepare and release with the high standards we hold for ourselves to in preparing Excel and Access masters.

If you are simply interested in quick tutorial videos rather than complete self-study course training, some useful tips and tricks videos are available on the Free Videos and Test page for viewing.

My password says “Already a registered student” and I haven’t been able to login with it. How can I login to begin training?Top

Already a registered student is setup for ExcelCEO students who have registered for multiple training courses — this combines accounts into one per ExcelCEO student. ExcelCEO student accounts are linked by to registered email addresses, so if you registered for a course previously, the case-sensitive password would be the one from when you first registered.

If you see “Already a registered student (which is not your password), you can either click the Forgot your Password? link in the Login section at the top-right of an ExcelCEO website page to have your password emailed to you, or you can contact Customer.Service@ExcelCEO.com to have your password sent to you. Remember that your password is case-sensitive and contains the special character.
